I don't know if this is any interest to people on here, but I found a very low cost DIY PC serial port programmer for the 24LC32 EEPROMS used to store external FV-1 programs.

I didn't have any suitable Zener diodes to hand so I substituted a couple of LEDs in place of each one to limit the voltage seen by the 24LC32 to about 5 volts.
I couldn't get the recommended Pony Prog software to work, but found an alternative called ic-prog that works fine on Windows and on Linux under Wine, YMMV.
I haven't tried using it to program the EEPROMs in circuit, but if you omitted the connection to pin 8 and used 3v3 Zeners for D2 and D3 it might work.
Dirt cheap EEPROM programmer
