maximum clock frequency

Post by rooster »

What is the maximum safe clock frequency (quartz) on which the FV-1 can operate safely?

The reason for this question is the following:
We are programming acoustical octave- and third-octave filters up to 8 kHz on the FV-1. These filters require cascading of three biquad sections in order to get the frequency response according to international standards. As the number of commands is limited to 128, only 2-times oversampling is possible in the filter sections. While the filters up to 2 kHz are perfect, especially the 8-kHz filters show significant deviations due to to the fact that the frequency coefficient (together with the required hi Q-values) comes close to the critical value of 1. A higher clock frequency than the 40 kHz used now would of course give better results.

Max rate of 48KHz.

48 kHz unfortunately does not solve our problem.
I had hoped that the FV-1 could go up to 96 kHz( as most audio-DSPs on the market), which would have given us the desired one more oktave to higher frequencies.

Hi,

It depends on the class of FV-1 but normally it can reach up to 50 kHz maximum frequency
