Instruction 0b11111

Post by ndf »

Hi,

I've been doing some experimentation with automatically generating instructions and parameters in order to explore some distortion ideas... I was wondering a couple of things about the instruction set:

- what does the FV-1 do if it encounters an argument or instruction that is incorrect or unexpected?

- The instruction 0b11111 is not documented, what does the FV-1 do when it reads this instruction?

From my testing it is quite hard to tell exactly what the chip does in these cases, but it looks like it might treat them as a no operation and continue. Does anyone know what the official behaviour is supposed to be?

Basic rule is do not use instructions that are not documented. I would have to go through the old notes and simulations to see exactly what it might do but the official statement is "don't use undefined instructions".

Thanks Frank, if you can find any info on what it might do that would be greatly appreciated - but either way, I'm definitely going to use it in my experiments :)

Cheers!
